Apple bars drizzled in salted caramel. Just as tasty as apple pie, but a whole lot easier!
Ingredients
- ½ cup butter (melted)
- ½ tbsp brown sugar
- ¼ granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ¼ tsp all spice
- pinch of clove
- 1 apple, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 tbsp caramel sauce
- 1 tsp sea salt
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prep a 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper and/or cooking spray. In the bowl of a stand mixer, mix together butter and sugars. Mix in egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices. Slowly add in mixture to butter and sugar and mix until incorporated. Fold in apples. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Drizzle caramel over top and swirl into batter with a knife. Sprinkle sea salt over top. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until edges are brown and a toothpick stuck in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool to room temperature before slicing. Serve with extra caramel sauce.
