  • 0.75 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1 oz Unsweetened Chocolate
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 tbsp milk
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 tbsp Coffee
  • 0.5 pint Water
  • 5 tbsp sugar
  • 7 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsps cocoa


  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease a 9 inch square baking pan.
  2. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt and keep aside.
  3. In a double boiler over simmering water; melt the sugar, butter and chocolate. Remove the bowl from heat.
  4. Add the flour mixture and stir well. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract. Mic with a wooden spoon, then pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan.
  5. To make the topping dissolve the coffee in the water. Let cool.
  6. Mix the brown sugar, sugar and cocoa powder in a bowl. Sprinkle the mixture over the pudding mixture.
  7. Pour the coffee evenly over the surface. Bake for 40 minutes or until the pudding has puffed up and set on top.
  8. The coffee mixture forms a creamy sauce underneath. Serve immediately with whipped cream.
