Soda bread


1 loaf of bread

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • ¾ cup all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup pinheaded oatmeal (you may replace it with old-fashioned oatmeal in case you can not find it)
  • 250 ml cream
  • 1 tbsp milk or water (if needed)
  • 2 tbsp seeds of choice (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp soda


  1. Preheat oven at 180 C.
  2. Prepare a baking sheet with baking paper and set aside.
  3. Mix flours, oatmeal, soda, sugar and salt in a big bowl. 
  4. Form a whole in the center and add the cream.
  5. Mix everything until the dough comes together. 
  6. If it's looking a little bit crumbly add 2-3 tbsp of water or milk. 
  7. Make sure not to overwork the dough.
  8. Shape the bread as per your preference.
  9. Cut a cross in the center using a sharp knife.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for around 40-50 minutes.
  11. Let it slightly cool before enjoying it.
